VU recently launched its VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV in the market. VU QLED TV is a good and cheap QLED TV. But the competition in the market is already quite high with numerous competitor brands. So is buying a VU QLED TV worth it or should you go for some other option? Let’s find it in this Trueview article where we unboxed and reviewed VU QLED TV.

Looks:
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV has amazing built quality with a metal body and very thin bezels. It looks amazing. Stands are made of metal and the TV doesn’t wobble which means that its stands are solid. It has all connectivity options which are given on one side of the backside.
It has 4 HDMI ports (1 HDMI 2.1 eARC with ALLM). ALLM is not mentioned but is good for gamers (8-9 mili seconds response). All connectivity options are on the back with Bluetooth 5.0 and Dual Band Wifi support. Its looks, built quality as well as connectivity options are good.
Brightness:
Its brightness was 375 nits only on 10 to 100% window. This amount of brightness is very low compared to VU’s claim of 450 nits. After changing certain settings, its brightness becomes 200 nits. Its brightness can be manipulated. Its actual brightness is 370 nits.

Tests:
Its dimming performance was good and can be rated 7.5/10. Its grey uniformity on 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% & 100% can be rated 8/10. It is a trueview. We honestly review it but only you need to decide which one to buy.
Panel:
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV has VA QLED 8-bit FRC panel which shows 10-bit color depth. It has a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 10,00,000:1 contrast ratio. We tested its contrast thoroughly. Blacks were good but not that extraordinary as compared to 10,00,000:1. Color profile was ok. They were slightly natural colors. They were not bright or vivid despite the quantum dot filter. The colors are not extraordinary. They are ok. We think they are a bit dull. Other competitors show brighter colors as compared to them.
Video Formats:
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV supports HDR10, HLG & Dolby Vision. We tested Dolby Vision content despite its 370 nits brightness because we thoroughly test everything. As a result, we noticed that the content was not detailed. With more colors and better color optimization more detailing could have been shown. HDR10 performance on Prime was just okayish due to the dull color profile. It is not going towards natural color profile. They are unsaturated and dull colors. Despite the Quantum dot filter, colors are not vivid.
OS:
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV comes with Android 11 Google OS out of the box and a familiar home screen. The pre-downloaded apps are fewer in this VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV due to its storage is 11GB. With more apps, it would have been 7-8 GB. More apps can be downloaded from Playstore. It has a built-in Chromecast but lacks Apple Airplay support. You can still cast Apple devices with an app on this TV.
Upscaling:
We failed to understand what AI upscaling was. But the upscaling of the SD channel was normal as of any 4K TV. It is not the best but we have no regrets. Upscaling of HD channels was amazing. Upscaling of 720p content played via USB was very good. Upscaling of HD content was amazing.
Upscaling of 1080p content was good and there were no issues. 4K content is heavy and this TV doesn’t support 500 GB hard drives. But we don’t think there will be any issues playing the 4K video.
Audio test:
It comes with a 40W speaker and tweeter combination which supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus. Dolby Atmos can be easily decoded from a Dolby Atmos Soundbar. Audio quality is good but for a cinematic experience, a soundbar is a must.
Even without a soundbar, the audio quality is good due to the tweeters. Vocals and mids are good which provides clear dialogues.

Cost:
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV costs approx. Rs 45,000. Its competitors are Mi QLED TV (Rs 60,000) and Nokia QLED & Motorola QLED (approx. Rs 45,000). Nokia and Motorola QLED have 400 nits whereas Mi QLED has 350-370 nits brightness. Mi QLED TV shows yellowish or over-saturated colors. They don’t look bad. They are not as dull as the colors of the VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV. Other options are Toshiba QLED and Hisense U6G. All these are better than VU QLED. Then who is the buyer of VU QLED TV?
VU 55 Inch Premium QLED TV is better than a normal budget TV that costs around Rs 50,000. It shows better detailing and enhanced colors. But we couldn’t see the enhancement and purification in colors as is of a QLED TV. We were not impressed with it and that is why we don’t recommend it. Go for other options.
