Our Verdict

Do we like the Sony Bravia 2 TV or not? The bottom line is that we actually do like it. First and foremost, you will not notice motion blur, and the picture quality is superb. The colours are vivid and powerful, and the dynamic range and contrast enhancer technologies are excellent. Although the picture is not natural, you will still enjoy it because of the incredible picture quality it offers for the price. There are 55- and 65-inch versions of the TV available.

Furthermore, there isn’t much difference between the Sony Bravia 2 TV and the Sony X74L’s price. Lastly, the Sony Bravia 2 TV is still a good option, in our opinion, if you have a budget to spare and are looking for a good TV for gaming, watching content, and general performance.

    2. Panel Included in the Sony Bravia 2 TV

Lets explore the panel included in the Sony Bravia 2 TV that refines every scene with exceptional clarity and detail, providing an immersive viewing experience like never before.

    Type of the Panel:

type of panel of sony bravia 2

Even though the Sony Bravia 2 TV has the same IPS panel as the Sony models of  2023 and 2022, this ensures that you will still enjoy stunning clarity, vibrant colors, and sharp images.

    Brightness:

brightness- sony bravia 2 tv 55 inch

The Sony Bravia 2 TV peak HDR brightness is currently approximately 300 nits. Regardless of the size—55 or 65 inches—the brightness is about the same on both. By the way, this brightness is lower than some other models on the market.

    3. Contrast of the Samsung Crystal 4K Pro TVs

There is a difference in the contrast ratio of the Sony Bravia 2 TV, which produces the truest blacks and brightest whites for a more immersive viewing experience. Let’s find out:

    Contrast Ratios:

    contrast ratios
“In 55-inch, you get 1020:1, and in 65-inch, you get a contrast ratio of 910:1. These figures tell us that you won’t get any extraordinary contrast. These numbers indicate that you won’t experience the remarkable contrast.”

While this is expected from an IPS panel, is there a genuine contrast present? Let’s look into that in the next segment of blacks.

    Blacks:

blacks - sony bravia 2 tv

Blacks and whites are magnificent on this Sony Bravia 2 TV. Despite the contrast ratio of 910:1 or 1020:1, you will observe a lot of great blacks because dynamic contrast enhancer technology has been used in it. It artificially enhances the contrast in every scene and every picture so that you see more rich colours.

“In a nutshell, this contrast is unmatched by any VA panel; yet, compared to other TvS IPS panels, it is a stunning panel with excellent contrast. You can anticipate an optimal contrast when Sony releases its 4K TV in the affordable category.”

    4. Colours and Saturations of the Sony Bravia 2 TV

On the Sony Bravia 2 TV, you’ll have the ability to notice excellent colour. These are, in no way, natural because the oversaturation of blue and green is visible. For a better picture, let’s know more about colour gamut, saturation, and depth.

    Colour Gamut:

color gamut - sony bravia 2

The colour gamut encompasses 99% of the sRGB colour space. However, the DCI-P3 ratio is almost 77%. All colours are, hence, oversaturated. Green and blue are slightly more, while red is slightly less. This triangle shows you where that is.

“What follows from this now? You will notice that there are many colours that stand out and that the image quality is really vivid. Although the colours are not natural, you can change them in picture mode. All in all, the picture quality is very good

    Depth:

depth - sony bravia 2 tv

Regarding depth, you will notice that the colours are incredibly deep and have a great deal of variation. That is quite impressive and adds to the viewing experience.

    Colour Saturation:

color saturation - sony bravia 2

On a Sony Bravia 2 TV, when using the default picture mode, the specified colours will be displayed. However, if you switch to a different picture mode, you will see a lot of different colours. You will see more brightness due to the blue over-saturation.

It should be noted that several brands create the optical illusion of blue being oversaturated. Typically, Sony does this on TVs; however, this particular TV was done by Samsung.

    5. Picture Quality of Sony Bravia 2 TV

Now, let’s discuss the Sony Bravia 2 TV picture quality so you will have a clear picture of what to expect.

    Dynamic Range:

dynamic range - sony bravia 2 4k tv

On the Sony Bravia 2 TV, excellent dynamic range is evident. The simplest approach to comprehending dynamic range is to attempt to determine whether or not details are visible in both brightness and shadows in a given image.

Even at 300 nits of brightness, the colours exhibit a good degree of diversity. It’s excellent that you also get a lot of grey homogeneity. The Sony Bravia 2 TV excels at this.

It’s not the best, but having a good dynamic range ensures that you won’t lose any detail in the darker or brighter parts of the screen, which improves the viewing experience in general.

    Viewing Angles:

    viewing angles - bravia 2

The Sony Bravia 2 TV boasts an excellent viewing angle courtesy of its IPS panel. You will have fantastic viewing angles, with minimal colour and brightness loss when viewed from any angle, with 10% to 15% being the recommended range. With the Bravia 2 TVs from Sony, you can expect this IPS panel to be the same calibre.

    Motion Blur:

motion blur - sony bravia 55 inch tv

This Sony Bravis 2 TV does a great job managing motion blur in the picture quality.

Since we could not discern between them, purchasing any of these TVs won’t present any constraints for you. Because of their similarities, we could not detect any variations between the 65-inch Motionflow XR 200 TV and the 55-inch Motionflow XR 100 TV we evaluated, as there was no motion blur in any of the content we viewed.

    Banding:

    banding - sony gaming tv

We also watched a wide variety of exceptionally bright content. Such as the highly vibrant Dolby Vision and highly bright HDR10+ content. We did not experience banding in them, which was impressive considering the high brightness level.

Additionally, keep in mind that Bravia 2 comes with two different kinds of models. While the other has Motionflow XR 200 technology, the first has Motionflow XR 100 technology. Both TVs may be purchased offline as well as through Amazon and Flipkart.

    6. Software & Hardware

    Operating System:

    operating system- bravia 2

As usual, Android 14 is included, and the Sony Bravia 2 TV also comes with Google OS and a built-in Chromecast, so you can simply cast content from your Android phone to the TV. With the remote control, you can effortlessly search for any program and receive assistance from Alexa and Google Assistant.

    Connectivity Inputs:

connectivity options - sony bravia 2

Regarding connectivity choices, there are three HDMI ports: one HDMI eARC 2.1 port and the other 2.0 ports. You’ll have two USB ports and all the other connectivity options, like dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth. In essence, Bluetooth allows you to connect any kind of headphones or earphones, which is convenient for late-night viewing without disturbing others.

The extensive software store available on Google’s Android OS allows you to download any apps that the Play Store does not offer. IPhone users can also stream media from their phones to the Sony Bravia 2 TV via Apple AirPlay 2.

    7. HDR of Sony Bravia 2 TV

The Sony Bravia 2 TV comes with HDR10 and HLG support. However, Dolby Vision support is still absent from this TV range as it always is; Sony has preserved this support for TVs in the higher range, not the Bravia 2 series. Is this a disappointing factor? It should come as no surprise that HDR10 content on this TV is enjoyable to watch and does not prevent you from enjoying stunning visuals.

    Prime Video- HDR10+:

prime- sony bravia 2 55 inch

We were rather shocked to find that there was no banding when we examined the HDR 10+ on the Prime Video. Additionally, the colour depth is excellent. As I’ve already mentioned, it has excellent dynamic range, or HDR capabilities , which really enhances the overall viewing experience.

    Hotstar- HDR10:

    hotstar

You get good depth when Hotstar content is being played, and that holds true for HDR10 content as well. On Hotstar, you are going to enjoy watching the content in 4K, and this TV will not provide you with any additional issues.

    Netflix- Dolby Vision:

netflix - sony bravia 55 inch tv

When you play the Netflix content for the Dolby Vision content, the format is missing from the TV’s capabilities. As a result, you will see good colour and HDR playback instead of Dolby Vision. In essence, you will get good contrast and a good colour response from the contrast enhancer.

You won’t be able to overlook the Dolby Vision support when watching the content. It goes without saying that this TV would have had more details and deeper colours if Dolby Vision compatibility had been available.

    8. SDR of Sony Bravia 2 TV

If you are looking for a TV for advanced SDR technology ensures that every scene is refined to perfection, then you should really consider the Sony Bravia 2 TV:

    STB & Upscaling:

    STB HD
    SD STB - Bravia 2

We have assessed Sony on multiple occasions and noted in our earlier reviews that it produces the most incredible set of box content upscaling.  As demonstrated by this TV, Sony is the only company that can effectively upscale shots better than any other brand on the market.

When you watch an SD channel on Bravia 2, you will experience what seems to be HD picture quality, but in reality, the picture quality is quite remarkable for a news channel because of the excellent upscaling.
You may believe that you are watching 4K content when you are actually watching 720p stuff, which this TV does a fantastic job of upgrading. Excellent for the substance of the set-top box, and Sony clearly wins here.

All in all, the full marks go to the set-top box content, and the Sony Bravia 2 TV wins hands down due to its exceptional upscaling technology, which makes it the best 55 inch TV in India.

    9. Gaming of Sony Bravia 2 TV

    Gaming Features:

    gaming

When it comes to the game play on the Sony Bravia 2 TV, we are here to give a clear example of why you should opt for this TV for the ultimate gaming experience. So, let’s get into what makes the Sony Bravia 2 TV stand out in terms of gaming performance.

In the model of the Sony X74L TV, PlayStation 5 mode was introduced, and that is carried forward in the Sony Bravia 2 TVs. Now, as soon as you plug in the PlayStation, this TV will showcase the same features as before. For example, it will display Auto-HDR tone mapping, which indicates that your games will be played in high definition and provide scene-by-scene brightness and contrast adjustments.

Sony Bravia 2 TV game mode will feature Auto Low Latency Mode. In the game mode, the colours were excellent, and the input lag, when measured, was approximately 10 ms, which is also extremely low for these TVs. The Bravia 2 TVs will satisfy your needs if you’re a serious gamer who wants to play games on the PlayStation 5 or any other gaming console.

    9. Sound of Sony Bravia 2 TV

In the Sony Bravia 2 TV, you will get the 20W box speakers, which is slightly underwhelming. These 20-watt speakers provide Dolby Atmos support, so the  TV’s audio quality is still impressive despite the lower wattage.

    Supported Audio Format:

    sony bravia baffle speakers

The Sony Bravia 2 TV is supported by Dolby Audio, Dolby Atmos, and DTS, which is quite impressive and provides a more immersive audio experience

If you have a regular-sized room and you think you can fill it with the sound of these TVs, you won’t be able to; therefore, you’ll need an external sound system for the sound. Although the TV is not designed for deep bass, the clarity of the sound is good, and you can easily hear the dialogue delivery of the played content.
